Brenna has been taking ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) swim lessons with Kelli Roop for 6 weeks. I honestly have full confidence that if God forbid she fell in any body of water without proper supervision, she could save herself. I was very hesitiate to sign up because it is quite an investment of your time and $ as you have to go M-Fri for 6 weeks or more depending on how quickly your child progresses. One of my sorority sisters who completed ISR with her 2 year old gave ISR a glowing recommendation and told me "Eat cheap for a month because it's well worth it." I'm very glad I took her up on her advice and will offer the same to anyone who is thinking about doing it. Check out Brenna's amazing swim skills!
To contact Kelli Roop, go to her website http://www.starfishbabies.com/ or the http://www.infantswimmingresource.com/ for more information.

Dancing Laundromat Guy!
This guy stands on the corner of Indiantown Road and Alt A1A in Jupiter, FL and dances like this everyday. Even in the 95 degree Summer heat, he is movin' and groovin' and makes my day happier every time I pass him by. My 2 year old daughter laughs and claps for him everytime we go by. You GO, Dancing Laundromat Guy! You deserve to be on Ellen.

Lion Country Safari - June 2010
The Mussons were in town along with Aunt Cookie so everyone took a trip to Lion Country Safari for the day. I had never been and wasn't expecting much but it was so much fun! The park was just big enough for the kids to get through and see everything without falling asleep. Of course Alex and Brenna fell asleep for Part 2, which was the actual drive-thru Safari part, but they had a blast otherwise. It was about 95 degrees out and as hot as can be, but totally fun and worth the sweat.
Here's the gang, as we get started on our park adventure.
Grandpa Les and the Flamingos. Both have very skinny legs.
Amanda and Alex...poor little guy looked so hot.
Stephen managed to actually catch the birds.
"I want to feed it..."
The group takes a break for a jam session on the bongo drums.
One of the coolest parts was you actually got to feed the giraffes. Brenna LOVED this!
"Ewww, he licked me!"
We picnic'd outside the Splash Zone.
She's so cute, I can't stand it sometimes.
Check out Nick in the background...
Love this sequence of pics below...
"Hey, What's this?"
"Let me go in closer and check it out..."
"WOAH!!!"
"What happened?"
"It exploded!"
"Eeehh...help me"
Aunt Cookie and Brenna enjoying a snack in the shade.
So long, Lion Country Safari. Brenna was asleep before we made it to the car.

Summer, Swim Lessons, and Ever/After Clothing
It's the end of May! It's hot! Like really really really hot! As much as I love the weather in Florida (so much so that I'm not sure I could ever really handle the cold Winter in any other state), I do not like Summers in Florida. Sure the Winter, Spring, and Fall are pretty perfect but the Summers...not so much. You pretty much sweat through your clothes any time you leave the house. I don't like taking Brenna out in the 90 degree + heat because despite 50 spf sunblock, she browns up like bacon in a skillet in under 5 minutes. Plus during the Summer months, it rains almost every afternoon which can put a damper any outdoor plans you may have.
But since it's almost summertime, I'm anticipating spending a lot of time in the pool or at the beach or inlet. And because both sets of grandparents and many friends of ours have pools, swimming lessons for Brenna is a must. After much thought, we decided to enroll Brenna in ISR (http://www.infantswim.com/). It's a pretty intense survival-style skill program that is 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week for about 6 weeks. It's quite a commitment from the parents to actually get them there each day, but luckily we found an instructor, Kelli Roop, who was willing to work with my schedule. For anyone interested, check out Kelli's website (http://www.starfishbabies.com/). We are only on our first week but today (Day 4), Brenna actually enjoyed herself. She'd give Kelli high-fives and clap for herself after coming up from an underwater drill. I'll be sure to post some videos as we go along.
Funny story real quick about the first time I took Brenna to the inlet a few months ago. There aren't many waves since its on the intracoastal but occasionally if a boat goes by, some waves will roll in. She was looking at the waves fold onto the coast and I said "Brenna, those are called waves." So she waved at them and said "HI." LOL "Yep, that's a different kind of wave but you can still say hello."
I also want to give a shout out to our friends Gary and Christy Winston (friends from high school) that just launched their own clothing line for kids: ever/after clothing. You must check out their website and blog.

Happy Mother's Day
I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend this year. Yesterday, we went down to Springs to get in a quick visit with both our moms and deliver some flowers and today, I got to sleep in (til 7:45 am) while Brett got up with Brenna and then the 3 of us went to my favorite breakfast spot, First Watch Cafe. Brett and Brenna also gave me a very pretty necklace and a pair of earrings. Brenna got a good nap in while I did some picture organizing and then we spent the rest of the afternoon at the Axtells hanging in the pool. It was a very relaxing and fun day! I'm so thankful to be a Momma. It's the hardest and best job in the world. Here are some recent pics of my baby girl just being oh so cute!
Here she is in her Hugh Hefner-inspired PJ's.
I was making the bed when she decided that her and Minnie would lay down and rest.
We went over to Ella Kate's to play outside and she wouldn't even let me put her bathing suit on. She jumped in the baby pool with her shirt and diaper on.
The diaper is getting pretty full of water at this point...
Trying to get out with a diaper that ways 5 lbs is pretty tough...
"If I could just stand up...."
"Almost got it..."

This butt is the cutest thing ever! Her poor heiny doesn't stay in her bathing suit very well.
